Andrew Smith, a Solicitor and Family Mediator in Emsleys' family law team, has been accredited by both the Family Mediation Council (FMC) and the Law Society.
The FMC is a national body dedicated to the promotion of best practice in family mediation. It sets national standards of competence for all family mediators and aims to ensure the public can confidently access high-quality family mediation services.
The accreditation scheme sets out a competence framework to be met by all mediators and provides expectations of quality standards, against which professional competence is measured.
The Law Society, an independent professional body for solicitors, promotes the highest professional standards within the legal profession. The accreditation scheme affords legal practitioners the opportunity to earn special recognition for their expertise in particular areas of law, including he specialist category family mediation.
Andrew completed his training as a family mediator in 2011 with Resolution, a member organisation of the FMC and has since been working towards accreditation. Whilst doing so Andrew has helped launch, develop and market Emsleys' family mediation offering.
By becoming a member of both accreditation schemes, Andrew is able to provide clients and peers with the assurance hat they are dealing with a knowledgeable and skilled family mediator.
Emsleys' Director Andrew Greenwood says: "The assessment process was a long and arduous experience, taking nearly four years in total. It involved a lot of work behind the scenes to develop the department, obtain referrals and complete actual mediations in real life situations. Andrew should be very proud of his achievements.
Andrew Smith says: "I am looking forward to continuing to provide our mediation clients and referrers with the highest quality family mediation service, now with the further assurance provided by these endorsements."
