There may be additional costs depending on the individual circumstances. This will depend on the following:

• If the estate has multiple properties
• If the deceased had business assets
• If there are more than 10 banks or building societies to deal with
• If there are over 5 beneficiaries
• If a dispute arises between the beneficiaries
• If the executor lacks mental capacity or is unable to deal with the estate
• If a claim is made against the estate
• If the Will contains an ongoing trust
• If Department for Work & Pensions claim against the estate for overpaid state benefits
• If there are assets in any other country aside from England and Wales
• If there is inheritance tax to pay
• If there are claims against the deceased
• Varying the estate at the request of the beneficiaries
