Emsley's Make a Will Month for St Gemma's helps raise £18,426, surpassing last year's total by over £3,000!
As part of our annual commitment to Make a Will Month, our Wills & Probate department has once again gone above and beyond to support St Gemma’s Hospice.
This year, the team raised a phenomenal £18,426 - surpassing last year’s total by over £3,000! This is a truly incredible achievement that reflects both the hard work of our colleagues and the generosity of our clients.
A Long-Standing Partnership
Emsleys has proudly supported St Gemma’s for many years. Some of you may remember our very first fundraiser for them back in 2015 - a simple dress-down day that sparked a decade of support.
Based in Boston Spa, St Gemma’s provides vital palliative and end-of-life care across Leeds. As the NHS only funds 30% of their costs, they rely heavily on donations, charity shops, and initiatives like this one to keep their doors open.
How it Works
During this pro bono campaign, we waive our usual fees for making a Will, instead encouraging clients to donate that equivalent cost (or more!) directly to the hospice. It’s a win-win that helps our local community secure their future while funding essential care.
Did You Know?
Beyond the immediate donation, there are lasting benefits to including a charity in a Will. For instance, if someone leaves at least 10% of their estate to charity, their Inheritance Tax rate can be reduced from 40% to 36%.
