Personal Injury claims against employers: Will I lose my job?

It's a natural feeling to be anxious about making a claim against your current employer. However, employers have a duty of care to you and will have insurance to cover claims when they fail to keep you reasonably safe at work.

If you have been injured as a result of your employer’s negligence then you are within your rights to make a personal injury claim against them. Although they will be informed of the claim, they will not directly investigate the claim or negotiate with us. This will all be completed by their insurance company who are already paid by your employer for this purpose.

Your employer is unable to penalise you for making such a claim and if you find they dismiss you for this reason then you may well have a separate employment claim against them as well, although this is rare. When you contact us, we will listen to your individual circumstances and advise you accordingly.
