COVID-19: An update on our Conveyancing services

As the government lifts coronavirus restrictions across England, you may be wondering how this affects our conveyancing services and your property sale/purchase.

We’ve answered your frequently asked questions:

Has the pandemic changed the way you work?

Yes. We are continuing to interact with our clients via email where possible, rather than via a letter in the post. We also offer ‘contactless’ services, so our lawyers can progress transactions without the need for an appointment at our offices. Please be aware that delays associated with third parties may occur, such as longer processing periods for mortgage offers, surveys, searches and reports.

Our teams will continue to work from the office and remotely – please note that our offices are open by appointment only.

What happens if the chain is affected by COVID-19?

If a party in your chain has symptoms of coronavirus or is asked to self-isolate, your house move will be delayed. Your conveyancer will discuss provisions for this in your contract. The government has requested that home movers are flexible, whilst following social distancing guidelines, letting in fresh air and carrying out additional cleaning measures throughout their moves.

If you develop symptoms of COVID-19 or NHS Test and Trace ask you to self-isolate, please contact your conveyancer as soon as possible.

Do I need to visit your offices in person?

No. We are still offering ‘contactless’ services, so you can progress your sale or purchase without the need for a face-to-face appointment.

Can I sign paperwork at your offices?

Yes – please arrange an appointment in advance with your conveyancer. Please note: we’re requesting that clients wear a face covering when visiting our offices.

Can I drop off paperwork at your offices?

Yes. Please use the letterbox at the bottom of the door at our No.6 Colton Mill office.

Is Emsleys Solicitors COVID secure?

Yes. We’ve put in place contingency plans to ensure our team is not affected by illness and we operate a cleaning schedule throughout the working day. We ask any visitors to continue to wear a face covering in our offices to protect the health and safety of our team and our clients.

If you have any queries or concerns, please contact Associate Director Adam Dawson by emailing conveyancing@Emsleys.co.uk or calling 0113 264 4414.
